Alcon Reports Q1-2026 Net Sales of $2.69 Billion

Alcon reported May 6 that its Q1-2026 net sales were $2.69 billion, a 10 percent increase (+6 percent cc) over $2.45 billion in Q1-2025.

Surgical net sales totaled $1.46 billion, consisting of $438 million for implantables (up 4 percent from $420 million in Q1-2025), $769 million for consumables (up 8 percent from $712 million), and $253 million for equipment/other (up 27 percent from $199 million).

The Swiss company, with US headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas, said implantables growth was due to a strong performance by the PanOptix Pro, offset by continued competitive pressures in international markets and lower sales in surgical glaucoma.

Consumables’ performance reflected soft cataract market conditions and price increases.

Equipment/other net sales growth was led by recent equipment launches, including the Unity platform.

In Alcon’s Vision Care segment, ocular health net sales were $487 million, a 13 percent increase.

Contact lenses net sales were $738 million, an increase of 7 percent, primarily due to product innovation and price increases, partially offset by declines in legacy products.

Alcon reiterated that it expects net sales growth of 5 to 7 percent for full year 2026 compared with 2025.

Amgen Posts $490 Million from Tepezza, $280 Million from Pavblu in Q1-2026

Amgen, of Thousand Oaks, California, reported April 30 that its Q1-2026 revenue from Tepezza was $490 million, a 29 percent increase over $381 million in Q1-2025.

The total consisted of $424 million in the US and $66 million outside the US. The company said growth was driven by higher inventory levels and a higher net selling price.

Amgen’s Pavblu, a biosimilar of Eylea (aflibercept), generated $280 million, a 183 percent increase, over $99 million in revenue in Q1-2025. The total consisted of $276 million in the US and $4 million outside the US.

Amgen launched Pavblu in Q4-2024 as the first Eylea biosimilar available in the US for the treatment of retinal conditions, including wet age-related macular degeneration, macular edema following retinal vein occlusion, diabetic macular edema, and diabetic retinopathy.

Hoya Generates Quarterly Revenue of $240 Million for Medical Segment

Japan-based Hoya Corporation announced April 30 that its medical segment (which includes IOLs, endoscopes, metallic implants for orthopedics, and artificial bone) had revenue for the first three months of 2026 (the fourth quarter of its fiscal year 2025) of ¥38.3 billion (US $240 million, converted for March 31, 2026), a 14 percent increase over ¥33.6 billion in the first three months of 2025.

The company said sales of IOLs rose 8 percent (0 percent cc). Performance varied by region, with Japan delivering steady mid-single-digit growth, while shipments were halted in certain regions due to Middle East geopolitical issues.

In addition, Hoya said market contraction in China following the introduction of the national volume-based procurement system resulted in a shrinking addressable market for products for which Hoya has regulatory approval. In the short term, the company plans to align costs with current revenue levels, while in the medium to long term it will pursue growth through high-value-added products.

Ocular Therapeutix Reports Q1-2026 Revenue of $10.8 Million

Ocular Therapeutix, of Bedford, Massachusetts, reported May 5 that its Q1-2026 net revenue was $10.8 million, a 1 percent increase over $10.7 million in Q1-2025.

Dextenza product revenue accounted for the entire total.

The company said it had a cash balance of $666.7 million as of March 31, 2026, with expected runway into 2028, as it continues to advance Axpaxli for retinal disease.

Xbrane Generates Q1-2026 Ximluci Revenue of $1.8 Million

Sweden’s Xbrane Biopharma reported May 5 that its Q1-2026 revenue for Ximluci (a biosimilar to Lucentis) was SEK 17.2 million ($1.8 million, converted for March 31, 2026), while total revenue for the company was SEK 17.3 million.

This compares with SEK 46.6 million ($4.6 million) in Ximluci sales in Q1-2025 and SEK 93.2 million ($9.3 million) in total revenue.

Ximluci launched in Europe in Q1-2023 and is now available in 23 countries.

Xbrane said it is actively working on measures to improve the production cost of the product.
